MMET Case: 03-05 February 2012

Case Description

Reason for interest: Snowstorm over Colorado and Nebraska. NAM predicted too little precipitation in the warm sector and too much snow north of the front.

This event was the largest 3-day February snowstorm in Denver's history with over 15 inches falling in Denver and surrounding areas. Some areas in the Colorado mountains received 50 inches of snow. The NAM forecast too much precipitation south of the Denver Metro and not enough over the Cheyenne Ridge.
