Case Description

Reason for interest: Remnants from typhoon Atsani affecting Alaska.

The remnants from former typhoon Atsani, resembling a frontal system, triggered warnings for heavy rain and snow in portions of Alaska on August 26, 2015. Flood advisories were also in affect after parts of the state had already sustained up to 2" of rain earlier in the week. Parts of the state were also under a high wind advisory, especially along coastal regions, until late evening on August 27th. In fact, strong winds and high waves pounded the northern coast of Alaska, effectivly haulting oil drilling operations in the Arctic Ocean, with gale-force winds of 39-54 mph.
