The HWRF PS:85.98.98.88.88.2.4 (HNR2) is the first HWRF Reference Configuration published by the DTC. It corresponds to the 2011 HWRF Operational Baseline, a starting point from which the code for the 2011 HWRF Operational Implementation was constructed.

This configuration uses the same setup as the operational HWRF run by NOAA National Centers for Environmental Prediction. A 75x75 deg outer domain with 27-km grid spacing and a 6x6 deg moving nest with 9-km grid spacing were employed to run 5-day forecasts for 1190 cases of 53 storms in the North Atlantic and Eastern North Pacific basins for the 2008, 2009, and 2010 seasons.
